The Japanese artist Ayako has recently made an incredible sculpture of a dragon made with palm leaves, branches and wood for the Shimadakara Art Festival ("Treasure of the island") in Urama, Okinawa.
The Shimadakara art festival celebrates the people, culture and nature of the southern islands of Japan. One of the festival's goals is to showcase the talent of local artisans, as well as an appreciation for the use of limited natural resources on which they have to rely on in life through art.
The title of the work is read as "Ryu Miyagi", although it is written with the same kanji for Ryugu-jo, it is an underwater castle of Japanese folklore governed by Ryujin, the sea kami dragon.
The sculpture is located on a hill overlooking the village near a private residence and when the wind blows, the dragon moves and winds like a living creature.
