Hey, my name is Chris and I am an aspiring photographer out of Vancouver, Washington. I was out trying to find some interesting places to shoot some photos of the I-5 Bridge connecting Washington State to Oregon.
My goal was to capture the style and exaggerate the lines that this particular bridge has, and I was having a terrible time finding a spot that allowed a proper, unobstructed view.
"What better place than on the bridge itself" I thought to myself, and began making my way to it.
I was about halfway over the bridge when I had to make way for a bicyclist. That's when I caught a glimpse of what I wanted to capture with my camera. The safety rail on the side of the bridge, made up of concrete pillars, merged into one solid line, the curves of the bridge made clear, and the annoying bicyclist makes it all come together.
Photography is about capturing the essence of things as they are. I was getting frustrated with all of the traffic on the bridge making my shots look messy, and then this happened.
The bicyclist that I had once been annoyed by became the subject of one of my favorite shots and was the missing link to bring all the lines together and give the photo purpose.
