Now that I've written my first clickbait title (how annoying am I???), I want to take you on a journey with me...
Okay, so straight off I'll say that I've always been obsessed with all things arty...
Growing up I'd always be doing something creative, whether that'd be stealing my Mum's makeup and pasting it all over my face, or cutting off my own hair at age 4 and turning it into what I thought (at the time) was an amazing hairstyle- baring in mind I did this a day before I was due to be a bridesmaid in my Aunties/Uncle's wedding. Guy Tang, eat yer heart out.
Fast forward to my last years at school (2011/12), I began to take art more seriously. I began to use art as a coping mechanism for my anxiety disorder. (No violins please).
Anyway... as I started to really focus on art, I began to develop a love for photography. This led me to discover creative photoshoots which then led me to the makeup side of things.
Whilst researching for my A Level art/photography courses I'd find myself, for whatever reason, being drawn into the world of sfx makeup- which I started to look at more closely in the wonderful world of YouTube. The first makeup artist I discovered was a channel called 'eRaness' and his 'LADY GAGA - Born This Way MUSIC VIDEO - Look' video. His channel soon followed by Klaire De Lys, Alexys Fleming (Made Yew Look), Mykie (Glam and Gore) and Elsa Rhae, to name a few.
Makeup tutorials would be forever playing on my laptop and I'd be constantly creating looks on myself (whether that'd be beauty makeup or bodypainting). Naturally, I ended up capturing photo's of my finished looks and uploaded them to Instagram (jasmineterrimakeup) and the rest of my social media platforms.
Skip to the beginning of last year (2016), I saw a post on Instagram recruiting for online makeup artists to join a group called 'Online Alley'. This group would involve the individuals painting a look either on on their own body or another persons at a bodypainting festival called 'Paintopia'. I would be sat alongside people who did the same thing as me- designing, creating and uploading looks online. This seemed almost unbelievable in the sense that not only would I meet people face to face who I'd only ever seen virtually and had followed on social media for years, but I would be surrounded by people who had the same interests as me.
I applied and was invited to join the group.
Yeah. Could you imagine my excitement!
This year the group/family is still going strong and we are now attending more events including the Professioal Beauty event at the London ExCeL arena at the end of the week!
Last year I re-visited my love for painting on canvas (as opposed to skin haha) and have started selling my both originals and prints, many of which you can see on my arty instagram (jasmineterriart). Much of my work has, of course, been inspired by makeup looks I have previously created. There are a few random pieces to... I am after all one the most random human beings to have ever walked the Earth.
