This amazing momma has donated 6,000 (THOUSAND) ounces of breast milk in 2 years. That is over 46 GALLONS!! She has helped feed over 10 babies! How incredible and selfless is that?! This mom, of FOUR I might add, has a heart of gold! The sad part is, too many mom's don't realize donated breast milk IS an option if they are struggling with breastfeeding or their supply is hurting. Many people don't realize this amazing gift to give also, for those who over produce you can give the gift of life through your liquid gold!
Breastfeeding is a journey, a very hard and exhausting journey. It is real and raw. It is a struggle. It takes determination to make it a successful journey. It is many sleepless nights, tears, heartache, struggle, sweat, and blood. It is a fight. Sometimes, no matter how determined you are, your body just says no. Whatever you do, do NOT think you are a failure! You are NOT! If you need to supplement to get by, don't feel bad at all. If your milk supply has dried, don't feel bad, sometimes our bodies just fight against what we want. It is NOT your fault at all, you are still an amazing mom!
Fed is always best! If you need to supplement or stop your breastfeeding journey, there is another option and a better option! (nothing against formula at all!!). There are several facebook groups where fellow moms give the gift of milk and donate breast milk to those who need it! There are also milk banks that donate milk or you can purchase the milk!
If you have an over supply or a great pumper, please please consider giving the gift of life and donating your precious milk to those who may be struggling, have a foster baby, an adopted baby, mom who is really sick, a baby who lost their mom, or maybe a mom that just needs a break!
Breastfeeding is such a beautiful moment, and I believe donating your liquid gold is even more beautiful and selfless! Thank you to all who pump to donate, or those who wet nurse! You are all so wonderful and God sent!
