In March 2020 - when West End theatres closed due the pandemic - thousands of theatre performers, musicians and industry practitioners were left with no work and in some cases very little in the way of financial support.
What followed was a rallying of the troops as musicians and actors staged protests outside parliament and organisations were formed to provide much needed financial support to those overlooked by government schemes.
One group of artists came together to make a short film with an important message.
The Final Bow is a zero budget, sci-fi mockumentary short film set in a dystopian future in which the theatre industry has not recovered from the pandemic and technology and CGI personalities rule supreme.
The piece is a clever blend of scripted and improvised storytelling and features chilling photography, glorious dance performance, music and monologues in front of some of London’s most famous landmarks.
The film was created as a love letter to Theatre and the theatrical community.
The film aims to highlight the importance of the industry, create nostalgia, a sense of hope for the future and to build anticipation for theatres triumphant return!
