I rarely give away a first draft.. whether it’s
On a Post-It, scrap of paper or notebook page,
It’s always edited to look nice and neat.
The first draft contains the energy of
My emotions, the DNA of my sweat and
Tears.. even blood on occasion.
The words are a spell, when spoken
Untranslated by grammar and punctuation..
In their authentic freestyle flow.
Rules make it civilized but the magic has gone.
The first draft is a formula to a place and
Time in my journey, each page is a piece of me,
The raw and unrefined me.
The second draft is just a clone.
