I posted this lovely reactement of a ridiculous fall in front of the grocery store a few years back. I always repost it on my "anniversary". A few people suggested I post it here...so here it is!! Detailed illustration included;)
So, the pinnacle of my evening was falling down outside of Trader Joe's in the packed parking lot during rush hour. Good times!! Now, this wasn't just a quick little stumble, or tiny little trip, mind you...oh no...this was a full on, You-Tube worthy, FALL! Please, allow me to paint the scene for you:
As usual, I was rushing around, because I am ALWAYS rushing around. On the way into the store I heave my basket up over the curb because, not unlike the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, I just don't have a second to spare to walk three feet to my right to go up the pedestrian ramp, like most normal people would. So far, so good.
Now, on the way out of the store my basket is packed full and again, I am just WAY too busy to head down the ramp. I figured I would just pop my full wagon right off the curb and be on my way...while also saving a precious 1/8th of a second!!
NOPE...
As soon as those two front wheels went over the curb (or in this case, the "fulcrum") my entire basket followed...VERTICALLY, dumping all of my groceries (including eggs, of course) spilling into the parking lot. Ahhh..Physics!!! But that's not the best part, not at ALL!! No, the best part was that I actually lost my balance trying to keep the basket from tipping over, and in doing so ,I fell on top of the basket, and remained, hovering there awkwardly, for several seconds, reminiscent of a desperate turtle that's stuck on it's back, only reversed. The absolute picture of demure grace. Arms and legs flailing, eggs broken in the street, cars driving around me, while uncomfortable strangers came to help me off the cart, whilst putting my organic green apples back in it. It's the stuff dreams are made of....
But hey, I didn't really get hurt and hell...maybe someone in one of those cars REALLY needed a good laugh...in that case, I was happy to oblige;) Oh, and just in case I did not paint a strong enough visual, I've made a handy illustration...Enjoy.
