The Beauty Of Rapa Nui

With these six pictures I would like to share with everyone my journey to the enigmatic and mysterious Rapa Nui (better known as Easter Island), “The Center of the World”.
The island is famous for its Moai statues, carved from rock between the years 1250 and 1500, but it also offers beautiful landscapes and an amazing white coral sandy beach - “Anakena beach”!

Landing on Easter Island

Just few minutes before landing on the island.
Mataveri International Airport is located at Hanga Roa and it is considered to be the most remote airport in the world. It is located 3,759 kilometers from Santiago de Chile.

Ahu Tongariki

The biggest collection of Moai on the island with its impressive 15 moai statues. It contains the heaviest moai statue of Rapa Nui, with an estimated weight of 86 tons.

Anakena Beach

This white sandy beach is a kind of exception in an otherwise rocky coastline. It can be easily reached by bicycle, scooter or car (it is located about 18 km far from Hanga Roa)

Sunset at Tahai

The best spot to watch sunset on the island. Just a 10 mins walk from the city center

The Moai Factory

Ranu Raraku is a huge volcanic crater that supplied the stone from which about 95% of the Moai statues were carved. It is considered to be the center of Moai production. Some Moai around the lake are refined statues while others are incomplete or at various stages of production
