That Time We Broke A Plate We Inherited From Someone Who Already Passed Away...

...you have to make sacrifices for art, and learn and suffer, but not too much ;)

We are two scenographers from Berlin, called Cicada Concepts and for our instagram we stage fun, weird engaging scenarios.

After visiting Tefaf ( a very fancy art and antiquities fair :) where they also sell extraordinary porcelain we decided we want to give this our own spin.

We took the amazing handpainted fish plates I inherited from someone dear to me and created an "under the sea" world for them...

one unfortunately broke :( but oh well the result is so mesmerizing we can live with a little sacrifice.

The origin of the word porcelain (or Porzellan in German) goes back to the Italian word for the cowry: porcellana (as they thought porcelain was made from their shells) which is a diminutive of the word porco (pig)/porcellus (little pig) because the shells shape recalls female genitalia
