A dot G dot and directing duo Cary & Jon (Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott, represented by Honor Society), release ‘Textual’ Music Video, which beckons for a 'textual' time via lockdown. Combining playful animation and found imagery to create a siren’s song luring in the listener, the lyrics urge close contact, while warning that contact is wanted only in the cyber realm: “I don’t want you under my sheets. I want you under my contacts.”
Through quick cuts from neon tinged images to animated twerks to fingers tapping out ‘textual’ lovemaking, relationships unfold via text and grow more physical, even while people abstain from breaking COVID-19 lockdown restrictions. ‘Textual’ is all about having a hot relationship while “staying the f**k away from each other,” notes co-directors Cary & Jon.
“There is a light at the end of the dark horny tunnel and it’s our phone screens,” says songwriter A dot G dot. “While the news is talking about what’s going on out in the world, we wanted to talk about what’s going on inside the world’s loneliest bedrooms. A different story about the effects of the virus. This song and video speaks to the tragedy of human separation, unstoppable ecstasy, hunger for physical touch replaced with cold technology and sexual doom - all with a splash of humor to help us cope.”
Just like people will find ways with technology to have sex during the lockdown, the filmmakers found a way to make a music video during it. ‘Textual’ was produced, directed, and edited 100% during quarantine, using a combination of stock video and animation.
