Most of our decisions and choices are made consciously, with some time, planning, and effort, but there are certain feelings that just come about without us even really thinking about them, like intuition. When folks experience this ‘inner voice,’ some listen to it, while others ignore it when they’re feeling uncertain.
To really shine a light on this process, someone on X asked people about their scariest gut feelings that they actually followed through on and what happened then. Most of these stories are scary to actually think about, but they show the true power of the sixth sense.

I don’t know exactly how close of a call this was but my instincts say it was a close one. When I was about 13 or 14, I was running in my neighborhood with my dog which was a mixed breed pup about 30 lbs or so. A white van with no windows in the back and a ladder attached to the outside (looked like a painters van or some sort of mechanic) stopped in the middle of a neighborhood street and rolled the window down. It was a man in his 40s maybe and he asked really nicely what kind of dog it was. I stopped running just to answer him and he said “Aw she’s so cute, I want to pet her” and he started getting out of his van and walking towards me to “pet the dog”. I instantly panicked and ran as fast as I could home. What 40yo man presumably working stops a 13 yo girl to pet her dog?

Once, dead of summer, my sibling and I decided to go swimming at a local river. Great place, shallow, slow current, not too bad. it was sunny pretty much all day, but it was getting a little cloudy as we were heading out. A few clouds wasn't an issue, I thought, so we kept going.
Well, walking down to the beach, I asked "what's the highest point on the river?"
We decided, eh let's just go swimming another day. it's not so fun swimming in the rain sometimes.
A real bad Storm rolled through like a freight train, the worst i had seen in years. Kinda just came out of nowhere.
That storm came from over the horizon and caught up to us on the way home within like 10 minutes. It was one of those thunderstorms were you sit in your basement until it passes you by.
In hindsight, it's obvious, but at the time it just kind of snuck up on us. Young and dumb
