"Morning Walk" - A herd of friesian or holstein cows taking a walk through a field on a clear bright morning in England. I painted this using acrylic applied, after blocking in was complete, in a series of glazes using acrylic gloss medium. I'm often inspired by the shifting shapes and arrangements that cattle create as they move around in groups to investigate something or simply cross the meadow they're in. This painting has a nice sense of movement with the line of cattle making a diagonal path across the frame while the variation in body language and expressions on the cows' faces as one glances along the line brings a gentle rhythm to the work.
