Surreal Spaces

While perusing the Library of Congress’s online vast inventory of images for ideas, I often found empty cathedrals. The interiors I’d find were static and vast like closed stages and therefore perfect settings to tell unexpected stories.

While tinkering with these images, I began to see them as perfect environments for housing impossibilities. Perhaps in a dream, a church would be a place you find yourself amidst a flamboyance of flamingos or beside a carousel. Maybe, you'd see a kangaroo hopping around or a rhinoceros lost in the gray stonework. Finding movement and fun in an otherwise solemn place felt like I was breathing new life into the pictures.
