Sunflower As A Symbol Of Unity Of Ukrainians

Hi! My name is Tetyana, I am from Dnipro, Ukraine. I am an exhibition organizer and I wanted to show you, dear readers, the works of contemporary Ukrainian artists.
The first artist whose work I want to show you is Nina Ezhik (@ninaezhik), an artist, sculptor, illustrator from Kharkiv, who was forced to leave her beloved city. When she moved to Dnipro, all the art supply stores were still closed (many stores, except the vital ones, closed then, not knowing if it made sense to continue working)
Her friends brought her some old wallpaper (mice chewed on the edges of it!) and Nina began to draw a sunflower. The leaves depict the landscapes of her native Kharkiv region. On one leaf are the Polovetsky menhirs or standing stones of Izium. (One of these statues has already been damaged by the russian military by attaching a flag to it, causing part of the stone to break off)
On another leaf there is a humorous detail - do you see a flying saucer?
And finally, sunflower seeds.
All the seeds are united together, just as all Ukrainians are united now, but at the same time - look! - each seed is unique! Because every seed is a family.
This work by Nina Ezhik was the centerpiece of the exhibition "Sketches in the Corridor," which was held at the Historical Museum of Dnipro.
Why in the corridor?
First, most of the life of the Ukrainians now literally takes place in the corridor, where we have to hide during an air raid (if there is no convenient bomb shelter or a fortified basement).
Second, the permanent exhibition of the Historical Museum is not working now, the museum has turned into a humanitarian hub, but the cultural life must continues!
So, if there is nowhere else to hold the exhibition but in the corridor, it will be in the corridor!
And so it was.
And there will be many more exhibitions with amazingly talented Ukrainian artists.
I hope to gradually tell you about them.
Thank you for your attention!
