In a previous interview with Bored Panda, Maciej shared how he first became involved with photography: "I moved to Hong Kong from Poland to work at a university in 2000. I bought my first camera soon after, I think it was 2002, and I was 26 then."
He expressed his excitement about the city and his desire to photograph it, mentioning that he spent almost four years in Hong Kong, where his passion for photography grew. Maciej joined various online photography-sharing platforms, including Flickr and eventually Instagram.
Maciej also took the time to explain to us his photographic approach when asked: "I always enjoyed taking pictures of daily life in the street, taking unposed photos of people going about their life." He later discovered the concept of a decisive moment, realizing that some photos stand out because they contain a unique "twist" that elevates the image.
Maciej is an avid traveler and particularly enjoys visiting countries where people are camera-friendly and open to interactions with photographers. Asia is his favorite continent, and he has visited most Asian countries.
Reflecting on the most special period in his photography career, Maciej recalls a time around 2008 when he lived in Cardiff, Wales (since 2004).
During this time, his photos of Cardiff nightlife gained immense popularity, going viral online and receiving international attention. This recognition gave him the courage to quit his university job and pursue professional photography in 2009. Later, his work was published by Thames & Hudson in 2012 as a book titled "Cardiff After Dark."
