I created steampunk-inspired artwork by repurposing existing objects, then wrote a fictional backstory to explain them.
Years ago I was inspired by an early computer game called Myst. I loved the gadgets featured in the game, and decided I would like to have something in that style to call my own. As I was unaware of any existing Myst-style gadgets on the market (and thinking that if they did exist, they would be mighty expensive), I set out to create my own.
The results were encouraging, and I continued creating until I had enough items to hold an art show. Along with the items, I came up with a fictional back story explaining what they were and where they came from.
