Jeff Bezos made us to devout shopaholic followers. Austrian musician ViennaCC strikes back with his new song "Shopping Queen". This song is a satire describing a woman addicted to fashion shopping.
While such a song idea is a throw-away theme - shopping is bad - ViennaCC comes up with comedy like lyrics. Not accusing, but reflecting an overweening consumerist society.
Isla Fisher in the movie "Confessions of a Shopaholic" would blush at sentences like "I am shopping therefore I am", a sentence in the lyrics based on René Descartes' famous word.
ViennaCC is painting a picture of a dominant ("Give me your credit card and carry my bag") and hedonistic ("window shopping and my dreams fulfill") woman relating James Bond ("Only James Bond lives twice") meaning that you only live once, so enjoy as much as you can.
ViennaCC: "Summer and winter collection is ok. But some fashion labels come up with a new collection every two weeks. And what was not sold will be trashed. Isn't that sick? Let's stop waste of ressources!"
... says a man who likes to dress up well.
ViennaCC: "Yes, I like fashion. But I wear my clothes until they are worn out."
