Exploration of the crypt of the de Gontaut French noble family, the adjacent graveyard of the 13th century Saint-Pancrace church and the abandoned family château. These sites are located in the Gers department of South West France, in the village of Saint-Blancard.
The name of the de Gontaut family was already cited in medieval sources of the 10th century. The family comes from knightly background, originating from Périgord. It has provided a line of military commanders, archbishops, bishops, advisors of state and ambassadors. The family motto was: Perit sed in armis, or "They die arms in hand".
The château has served the family between the 14th-20th centuries and was used during WWII to safeguard the artifacts of the Department of Egyptian Antiquities of the Louvre.
