The Game of Thrones star has previously addressed plastic surgery rumors
Some commenters suggested that Turner’s look could be the result of cosmetic procedures.
A few speculated that the actress had undergone buccal fat removal, a plastic surgery procedure that removes fat from the lower cheeks to slim the face and accentuate the cheekbones and jawline.
“What happened to her?? Are all celebrities doing surgeries now to rip off the fat?” one user asked.
Another said, “Buccal fat removal is up there with bottom surgery as one of the worst cosmetic procedures ever.”
“She looks like a grandma now,” a third wrote.
Turner faced similar rumors in 2024, when online comments focused on her appearance. In an interview with British Vogue, she denied undergoing cosmetic procedures.
Turner said her eating d*so*der affected her appearance during her teenage years, before her face returned to its previous shape as she recovered.
“I finally did get better in my early 20s; my face went back to normal. Then, suddenly, all the comments were about whether I'd had buccal fat removal or not,” she said.
Sophie Turner’s Tomb Raider role adds to the discussion around her new look

Another replied, “It’s for her role as Lara Croft, which also doesn’t suit her.”
Based on the video game franchise of the same name, the series received the green light in May 2024, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge attached as head writer and co-showrunner.
Turner was cast as Lara Croft in September 2025 and trained extensively for the role. Her casting drew mixed reactions, with some fans questioning whether she was the right fit for the character.

“Sophie Turner looks like bad Tomb Raider cosplay,” one user wrote at the time.
Filming was paused for two weeks in March 2026 after Turner reportedly sustained a “minor injury” on set.
