I am interested in inventing cute fury characters that could play out stories in children’s books. Some of them are based on real animals—hedgehogs, foxes and bears—while others are creatures entirely of my own invention. They are all characters in search of a storyteller, each possessing a distinct personality and, hopefully, able to speak to the viewer.
I usually draw with soft pastels, pencils and charcoal. I’m particularly interested in studying different textures: glassy eyes with their sharp reflections or fur that I sometimes spend several days perfecting. My works range in size from notebook dimensions to poster-sized drawings.
