Bored Panda reached out to Sharea Overman, the woman whose photoshop edit prank on her husband went viral. Sharea told us that the idea came after she thought it would be funny to make a scrapbook with the pictures since “we weren’t able to go anywhere on vacation!”
She snapped a picture of her husband, Nate, while they were on a family road trip in Indiana on August 28. Apparently, Nate was stretching his neck while driving and Sharea thought he was about to close his eyes. Nate wasn’t asleep, but the woman thought it still made a funny picture to share on social media.
The woman then decided to post the snap on a private Facebook group on photography, where she asked people to edit the background behind the car window.
But little did she know her request to photoshop the snap would blow so fast. 20 minutes after she posted the image, Sharea started receiving hilarious photo edits from around the globe. “I had no idea that it would become this,” she said.
"I started getting messages from people in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska... sending me their photoshopped images of my husband."
Luckily, her husband Nate really liked them and thinks it’s totally hilarious. “We both got a good laugh from them all,” she added. “My favorite was the Ace Ventura one and the white ferret one. His was the one with Christie Brinkley.”
The woman still can't believe something so silly could turn into all this. “This is so humbling. We are putting smiles on faces we don't even know."
