Hey Pandas, I hope you are having a good day. I want to start by saying I am a lesbian teen. I have been receiving a lot of hate because that. I am not embarrassed to be a lesbian, but people say hurtful things. This is a controversial topic and I want you to know that I respect everyone’s opinions, even if I don’t agree. My opinion is that love is love, no matter who it is between. But I know many people have a differing opinion, and I am looking to gain some perspective. So what do you think of people belonging to the LGBTQ+ community?

As long as it's legal and consensual who else's business is it? As someone who gets judged (because I'm fat! Aren't there worse things in the world?) I try very hard not to judge anyone because of looks, beliefs, sexuality or anything else - what a shame others can't be the same. And as someone who has friends that are gay and have been disowned by family and friends, I'll give virtual (aunt/sister/a human being) hugs to others in the same situation, much love to you all.

I felt conflict deep inside me upon clicking on this. There are some not so nice comments at the bottom 😔.
My feelings about the LGBTQ+ community are complicated. I mean, yeah, I'm one of 'em, but sometimes it hurts to think about that label. I don't like labels. They often hurt. While I am proud to call myself pansexual, I still do feel like humans are, shall we say, slow for not getting LGBTQ+ that quickly.
All in all? I really don't care who you love, as long as you're kind and caring.

I'm 64 and cis gender. I've been a part of the gay community as AIDS first started to raise its ugly head. I've never understood why anyone would condemn someone for how they feel and who they love.
I recall being offended watching a news brief of a gay pride parade. They only people they filmed were the over the top, nearly naked, highly made up and loud queens. When I mentioned it to my friend his response was "Well, they are the most interesting. The rest of us are pretty boring."
It is true, most gay people are like most non-gay people, average, boring and just living their lives. Why does anyone care or hate that?

I think its a wondeful thing that so many people can look to the LGBTQ+ community for, well, just that, community. It is really important to have somebody who understands what you are going through there to listen and help. And i just think its amazing! thats my view!

(This is a bit long and some things are pretty unrelated, BTW) I feel okay about it. I think EVERYONE should love who they love. It just annoys me when LGBTQ people make it seem like EVERYONE is against them. I know they might've been treated differently in the past, but maybe it's time to let go. If they can't, I understand that. I also have a bit of a problem if they/them try to force their beliefs on me. I was at my best friend's house once and her dad asked if we wanted to go to the park (when the virus first started, June or so). She said yes but I didn't want to go. I asked how many people, and he LIED and said, "Only a couple." The hell does that mean so I was like, "Yeah but how much?" and he was like not many. I still didn't want to go. We were gonna ride bikes but I was just about ready to cry so I said no. I walked while they biked. We got to the park and an ENTIRE GAY PRIDE FEST was there. 50+ people. I don't have anything against LGBTQ, but I was SOOO uncomfy. I was like to my BFF, "This is exactly why I didn't want to come." I told her dad and I was basically crying at this point, and he's like, "There aren't even that many people near you.", when there was a group of people 2 FEET away from us. If that was "not near me" I don't wanna know what IS near me. I was BOILING mad. I literally wanted to smack him in the face. I came over a couple of ties after that, but now she doesn't talk to me unless I email her first. There's my story about how I started getting scared to go outside! (I don't have a phone just my computer so I have no choice but 2 do that) It makes me really sad because we were best friends for 5 years and now she can't even check her email for things I might've sent her. I miss her so much. When I used to come over, she never did anything that I wanted to do. She got mad over the STUPIDEST things. I don't know whether I can surely call her my BFF anymore. Besides that, I have no problem whatsoever. When I get older and possibly have children, I will love and support them no matter what. I'm not sure if that's the case with my mom. I'm having trouble finding a way to come out to HER. I hope that when I do, she'll support me and my decisions.

Why do people, gay/straight/otherwise, feel the need to put labels on themselves? Especially when it's solely about their sexual behaviors? I used to joke that I am a, "...gay, ultra-conservative right wing vegetarian Christian Veteran Republican..." and I'd add whatever else fit the conversation. Do you really need to know, or care, what I do in my bedroom, the voting booth, a confessional, what I buy in the produce department,... etc. Didn't think you'd care!!
