5 months old Miley lived on the streets of Bali on her own. Neglected, suffering from chronic Demodex & Scabies Mange, Miley also suffered a severely crushed & twisted front leg.
I don't know how long she lived with this pain for but to look at, made me weak at the knees.
I scooped her up as she tried to run away & raced her to the vet. She had to be stabilised from her secondary infections & 3 days later, her leg was amputated.
She was such a pathetic sight. She sat in her kennel whimpering. To see her & hear her at the same time brought tears to my eyes.
2 days later Miley was released into my care where I would nurse her back to full health.
The first month was almost around the clock care for her. While recovering from her amputation, mange & chronic Kennel Cough, Miley also suffered Babesiosis blood parasites. She was anemic & so had to receive stronger antibiotics. She was already on a cocktail of tablets.
It was really touch & go for her. She stopped eating & drinking so the vets had to come to my house & place an IV in. After that, she kept pulling her IV out so there were trips to the vet sometimes late at night!
Over time, Miley recovered however to finish the layered sponge cake of ailments, Miley then caught ring worm!!
Unfortunately dogs with Demodex will undoubtedly be prone to ring worm as well.
Now she's fully recovered (except we're all waiting for her hair to grow back where the ring worm was) & is a healthy, happy & very cheeky 3 legged pupper.
She's fully integrated into my pack of 7 personal rescues & stealing hearts wherever she goes!!
I've been rescuing dogs for 3 years & Miley is by far the worst case of suffering I've come across. In 3 years, she was the 2nd dog I fundraised for. Of the 70 over dogs I've rescued, until early this year, the rescues were funded by me. Now I have been trying to reach out to the world via Instagram to help me continue helping neglected, abandoned & abused dogs in Bali.
It's a war zone here between dogs & humans. Some people are picking up 7 rescues a day. There's literally a neglected dog every 10 metres of walking.
Miley's fund raiser was a success. I hope to be able to continue rescuing dogs with the support from the world.
