Light Dots: Seeing And Creating Landscapes

My name is Lior Glaichman. I believe that basically a photo is reliable but not objective. I am convinced that a photograph is always subjective, and therefore, in many cases during the process there are unique personal choices. The ability of the camera to observe reality, to present everything as a photographed truth, challenges me to examine and present a different fact in front of the viewer’s eyes, deceptive in its accuracy. In most cases, the beginning of my work is discovering hidden potential in the environment without the camera. I imagine the final image I want to create, push the shutter, and here I have my raw material. The next step is disconnected from the ‘real’ footage.
By creating a digital manipulation, I am able to complete the idea that was born the moment I passed and looked at the surroundings. I see myself as creating an image of a place by intervening and changing the landscape. The photo series “Light Dots” is taking large place in my making for more than two years. In the photo series I deal with empty spaces and landscapes. The only way for the viewer to escape is by looking at the light and traveling with it to an imaginary exit. These points and lines of light are firstly used as an optimistic notion. They lead the viewer by the eyes, and then by his thoughts and feelings. For me, photography is a way of expression and life. Taking pictures sets me in a quiet dimension, far away from the noisy, daily reality. I enjoy creating the composition of an image, the silence just before the pressing and the never-ending search for light.
