"I began sewing about 7 years ago, and I started with quilting," Caitlin told Bored Panda. "I just started really experimenting with clothing this year! When quarantine hit, I had a ton of time to practice and make a bunch of projects."
That being said, she's always been an avid thrifter. "Not only does it obviously save money, but being able to reuse and up-cycle things is great for our environment. Beyond that, I love the thrill of the hunt! I have found some really amazing pieces along the way."

Caitlin's limit of how much she spends on an item is $10. She said that dresses at her local Goodwill in Jacksonville, North Carolina, were $4, evening dresses were $6, and skirts were $3. But at The Salvation Army, prices were a bit higher, and that's why her budget is $10. And it's really important to her too, since Caitlin doesn't want to throw money at something she isn't saving anymore.

When shopping, the woman is on the lookout for something unique. "Embroidery, a fun vintage print, embellishments or anything else that could make a garment special," she explained. "Then, I analyze the material -- am I going to be able to manipulate this? Is it going to fight me? The last thing I look at is closures: buttons and zippers, all that stuff. I need to make sure they can be moved or altered to fit my ideas."
