Sculpture Like Gem Inspired By Nature

Born in Paris, Valerie Rey has lived in Costa Rica since 1999.

As part of my ongoing series titled Metamorphosis.

The surrounding nature inspires me.

I recover driftwood from the beach, tree trunks, branches, mushrooms and parasites in the forest.

I elaborate these treasures. I cover them with gold and thousands of glass beads.

This set creates a new material. Shimmering, moving and very luminous, like a gem.

My artistic approach is to metamorphose these bodies "forgotten and murdered", by colonizing them with these little beings.

It symbolizes life.
