Iceland - a heaven situated in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. This young island is home for over 325.671 Icelanders, a lot of tourists, but also for 370 birds species and 28 mammals. Its landscapes are breathtaking, sculpted by the ancient volcanoes. What an unspeakable joy to walk through these valleys and peaks! There's something about this place, something different from all other European places - a simplicity and a raw energy which you don't encounter elsewhere. When you're here, you feel alive, eager to stay outdoors, to take in as much as possible of this land, no matter the weather, no matter if it’s rainy, snowy or sunny. I walked a lot in the coldest rain, my camera taking a shower almost every day. The frozen downpours had me soaked, yet every time the strong wind dried my clothes.
In those days, I had the chance to see beyond the land, to discover the mountains of Iceland in all their immensity and in the weathers' dynamic. It was snow, it was a cold wind that pushed the snow on the peaks, but all these natural elements together with the specific Icelandic colors created a different perspective around the mountains. They made me feel peace and in those moments I heard just my quiet thoughts. I was there with my body, but far away with my mind. They are sacred mountains and they represent a wonder of nature, and they will be perceived differently by anyone who stops and takes some time just to be connected with them.
