I would like to ask someone's out there opinion about for what was used Rome dodecahedron. I have one idea, but I think, people who works with a metal could tell more. It's possible that Rome dodecahedron was used for to make decorative shapes for solder's uniform?
Little balls around can be used for stabilization. How I understood the metal can be can withstand heavy blows. Therefore, some dodecahedrons are concave inwards.

Look inside from behind too. There is the same shape like on dodecahedron.
