Road To Umbriano

I love to consider my self a story teller because my style is imprinted on street photography. Thanks to the book "Urban Exploration - Todd Sipes" I started to travel around the world to find forgotten spaces and places to tell their stories, present and past.
Hence, month ago I heard from my girlfriend's father about Umbriano, a little abandoned town in Umbria, center of Italy; excited about that discovery I wait for next sunday, picked my camera and my girlfriend up and moved to see this jewel. It has been difficult to reach this place cause it's located in an unconfortable mountainous place and there were no streets, just a multrack. After a few km walk on this muletrack we finally reached the town. It was amazing to see how slowly the people abandoned this town. In fact, before moving to Umbriano I looked for more informations as possible about it and I found out that this fortress was build in 890 after Christ to defend Umbria from Saracens and in particular the bigger fortress of Ferentillo and San Pietro in Valle Abbey. The town of Umbriano was active until the World War II and after was gradually abandoned cause of its awkward position.
But now I let you enjoy my pics and I hope they succeed in transmitting what that place have passed to me.
