Finding your own style takes time and experimenting. Previously Emily shared that before she found her artistic voice, she played with super cartoony cats. Now, her drawings are more realistic than cartoonish but still have a vibrant personality. The artist shared: "It's fun to see how my art has evolved and how I've honed my skills over time."
Experimenting might include exploring other styles and artists, thus creating inspiration boards. Artists also tend to analyze different tools and mediums. But what really helps to grow as an illustrator is sketching, trying to do better, failing, and starting it all over again.
Emily emphasizes that “the creative process is an ongoing journey, and it's important to trust the process and to not give up when things don't immediately come together,” and we sure are happy that she continues to be on this journey.
