In times where the origin of things is so highly valued and rarely shown, Alejandro Sticotti together with Sudacas.com is taking transparency to the next level by live-streaming the creation process of 2 essential furniture pieces: A Bookshelf and a Coatrack.
The award-winning Sticotti products are handcrafted, modular, and sustainably made. In partnering with Sudacas.com, the Sticotti Workshop will be live-streaming the creation of each object as it is being produced, projecting the mutual belief that transparency in how items are manufactured is important and meaningful. The workshop only uses certified woods that come from responsibly managed South American forests—a practice which enables people to continue using wooden products without causing forest destruction. Together, Sticotti and Sudacas maintain a set of core values rooted in responsible production, producing only what is ordered out of respect for nature’s resources.
The customizable, interlocking design of the Modular Shelving System and Sticotti Coatrack are truly bespoke and unique. “I wanted to create in a way that fuses South American woods and craftsmanship with American practicality—the result is simple, modern design that is also personal.” says Sticotti.
Sticotti’s products have been published in many design outlets and carried by Design Within Reach in the past. However, he felt the need to find a more accessible and environmentally responsible way to share the story of his craft and show how meticulously his pieces are made. “Kickstarter allows me to have a direct connection with the end user, I can make them participants in my process and allow them to witness the creation of each piece they order. I never felt so excited about the possibility to have such a direct interaction with the people that are bringing my pieces into their homes and lives, it gives me a more meaningful level of personal accomplishment.”
