Rare Flamingos Spotted In Northwest Florida

Tropical storm Cindy brought more than tons of rain to the Gulf Coast. When the rain cleared up, beach goers spotted a pair of beautiful pink flamingos enjoying an Alabama beach! The pair have now made their way to the Emerald Coast of Florida over the last week. They are not tagged. No one knows where they came from, or how long they will stay. Flamingos in this area of the world is extremely rare. They are occasionally spotted in southern Florida, but have not been truly present in this area since the Europeans settled in America.
Local photographer, Lindsay Havlicek Bell (@lindsayhavlicekbell), decided to take a chance and see if she could spot the two pink birds somewhere along the miles of beaches. After almost giving up, she spotted them taking a dip in the warm waters. She's extremely grateful to have seen them, and now share their story.
Let's hope and do our part to make sure they stay safe and happy! Maybe there will be babies in the near future?
