My Wife Encouraged Me To Try My Hand At Painting One More Time. That Was One Year Ago

I am a self taught artist, and have been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil. Many failed attempts at painting had convinced me I didn't have a feel for it, but a few months before my fortieth birthday my wife encouraged me give it one last try. It had been nearly 24 years since I'd picked up a brush.
I completed my first official painting in March of 2017 and made the transition from acrylics to oils shortly thereafter. I tend to approach each piece as practice for the next, and am always trying to improve on my technique. The majority of the pieces shown here were done on commission; something I never thought would happen.
This post features "on the easel" photos of original works, presented in chronological order. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I did painting them.
