Dear Mr. Nathan Sawaya!
We are deeply impressed by your creative genius ! Your installations are energized with vivid emotions and deep meanings.
We would like to present you with an idea that should help attract attention of people and politicians around the world to the devastating tragedy at the planetary scale unfolding before our eyes.
In the last 2 weeks now, Putin’s Russia has been waging a barbaric and vile war against the people of Ukraine.
Peaceful people are dying.
Cities are being destroyed.
War crimes are being committed.
We ask your help to stop this war.
We want to propose to you to make new versions of the two of your sculptures.
In one of them, a blue man is holding the body of a gray man. If you change the gray man to yellow, then the sculpture will attain a new even more tragic sense reflecting what is happening today in Ukraine.
In another, one of your most recognizable sculptures - a yellow man with an open chest - we would like to suggest that you change the color of the inside of the chest and what is spilling from it to blue.
We believe that this can inspire the world to protect the innocent people who are dying in Ukraine from senseless ruthless violence, and in particular to persuade NATO officials to close the skies over Ukraine.
The Ukrainian army is fighting fearlessly, but it lacks the resources to protect Ukrainians from the merciless bombing of peaceful cities and civilians.
Please help stop this brutal bloodshed!
Sincerely,
Ukrainians Valery Khandus, Slava Galperin, Nelya Hryb, and Aksinia Khandus.
