Pitbull Rescue Doing Big Things For The Breed

We are about kick off our BIGGEST fundraiser of the year through our participation in the Michelson Found Animals Saving Pets Challenge. This fundraising competition lasts from May 1st - May 31st and provides incentives and prizes for approved participating organizations, including a $50,000 grand prize for the organization that raises the most funds. We participated in the Challenge in 2016 and were able to raise $175,000, with all funds going towards our capital campaign to build a state-of-the-art pitbull rescue shelter unlike any other. Though we are currently in the initial planning phases, we anticipate it will cost around $2 million to make our dream facility a reality. As you may know, animal control centers in Georgia are full of pitbulls and they need our help more than ever. But, in order for us to meet the need of those dogs we need support from you! We need help promoting our cause and raising funds for our shelter. This month-long fundraiser is a chance to win BIG money to go towards our dream of saving more dogs and taking our rescue efforts to the next level.
Jason Flatt, President and Founder, began our rescue efforts in October 2009. We average between 80-100 dogs, primarily pitbulls, in our foster-based rescue at any given time. Over the past 9 years we have rescued and responsibly adopted out nearly 600 pitbulls into loving, forever homes. By pulling urgent dogs from high-kill shelters, FTTF is able to rescue these dogs,
who without us would likely not make it out alive. The dogs we rescue include pitbulls and occasionally other breeds who are on the euthanasia list due to overcrowding, lack of responsible owners and adopters, breed restrictions, and complex medical or behavioral issues. They are broken physically, emotionally and socially. We strive to build them back up, not put them down!
FTTF is foster-home-based, meaning all of our dogs live in local family foster homes, with close to 50 amazing and selfless foster homes in our Forlorn Family. We support our community by funding spay/neuter and vaccine programs for owned dogs and cats, regardless of breed. We have fixed over 5,000 dogs and cats for at no cost to the community thanks to generous donations and grants. Our monthly average cost for taking care of our dogs is close to $10,000 per month. We provide our rescue dogs with high-quality medical care, top-of-the-line food, and individual foster homes who can give them the love, care, and socialization they each need. We do not put any of our dogs in boarding, nor do we transport our dogs to other rescues. We rescue responsibly - just as the dogs deserve.
Unfortunately, the demand to help pitbull-type dogs and other dogs in need in the Metro Atlanta area continues to grow. In turn, FTTF needs to grow and expand our rescue efforts to support the needs of the community and dogs around us. The monies raised for the month of May in the Saving Pets Challenge will be going directly towards our next step of growth: a state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind, pitbull rescue facility and sanctuary. We are the planning phase of creating an amazing facility with an estimated cost of $2-$3 million, and currently in the process of finding the right land for this facility. It takes a lot of support to reach our goals and make our dreams come true...and that's why we need you, and the dogs need you even more.
Not many rescues will take in the Forlorn dogs, but they need us and we need them. We are a small rescue working hard to do big things. We will put every dollar we raise towards our continued rescue efforts. Donate and join us, follow our progress, and watch what we do together. Join the Forlorn Family and donate to be part of our dream! There is no stopping us!
