People With Self Confidence What Helped You

My confidence increased with maturity. The older I get the more confident I have become.

Combination of a few things...

Being the eldest child, ive had to learn to be not only confident in/for myself but for them too...

Also being in band, i usually play quietly, and believed that whatever i played if i could be heard than i was playing wrong, then i played my first solo and realized i needed to have more confidence in my abilities,
Do i still have mini mental breakdowns before preforming solos? Yes, but do i play loudly (or quietly if song calls for :) anytime i play despite the difficulty of the music? Yes.

Learning that I’m not always going to be everyone’s cup of tea. I’m also naturally very extroverted and I think that helps. I’ve gained weight as I’ve gotten older, but my confidence is still pretty good. Trust me, there will always be someone or a lot of someone’s who think you’re awesome. Just don’t settle for less. Don’t let people see your lack of self confidence and think that they can be abusive or use you. Best of luck.

I'd love to know

The secret is knowing that not one single other person in the world is ever going to obsess as much over your personal appearance and behavior as you will, so the only standards you should be meeting are your own. The things you pick over about your appearance - the general public doesn’t notice or care, and people close to you just don’t see these things the same way you do. They might even find things you dislike about yourself endearing. The cringe thing you did years ago and still think about? Most of the witnesses don’t remember at all, and the people who do remember and bring it up to you are, again, most likely thinking of it fondly as something funny and nostalgic. It is normal to feel like you could be a better version of yourself, and to want to be a better version of yourself, and that can make you feel inadequate and insecure. It’s important to understand that you don’t have to be perfect to be a better version of yourself - you just have to be honest. The better version of yourself is one that is more authentically *you*. Be honest with yourself about the things you really enjoy, the people who make you feel good, and the bigger ideas and plans that are important to you. Understanding who you are and knowing your personal standards, priorities, and ideals breeds confidence more than anything else.

It sounds trite but literally just doing the thing I was scared to do. I find it helpful to visualize something that cares about me and verbally asking it to give me both the strength and willingness to do the thing. Sometimes it takes one try, sometimes it takes days of asking for willingness, but it always works.
