Today you start a new journey in the school of life; my prince, my precious, my blessing, the love of my life! My big boy that just grown up so suddenly, without asking for permission, without a warning... Just yesterday you were a mere little ball of hair cuddling into my arms, and today you are opening your wings to fly to a new horizon...
I was not ready to see you growing up so fast; everyone was telling me that the time was going to fly, but deep within I was hoping it were mere words... But they were not. Seen you so happy today, arriving to your first day of school, with the expectation of the new things you will learn, the new friends you will make, the new experiences you will have, made me realize that time does FLY and it doesn't come back! That's why I want to make a commitment to you today, my beloved prince; I commit to treasure every single day that the Lord gives me with you, to value every moment that we share together and do not take anything for granted, to play with you, to learn new things, to give you all of my love. Because the never-ending hugs, the kisses and the cuddles one day will be gone; because some day it might not be so special to have mommy and daddy taking you to your first day of class, because some day you won't even have a first day of class anymore, because you will already be graduated.
And I will always be there, looking at you, super proud of the fine young man you will become. I promise not to cut your wings, but to be right by your side encouraging you to go further and higher, to never quit, to make every effort to succeed. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, trust in the Lord and He will guide your steps.
And today, in your first day of class, just open your wings, AND FLY!
