My name is Junghyen Kim. I majored in Film & Multimedia in Korea. But, I have been painting abstract using ink on hanji (Korean traditional paper) for many years based on my study of movements.
My new body of works is called ‘New World’. In the past few years, I have cooperated mundane objects to paint instead of brushes. Recently, I started to use toys to paint. I let automated objects to paint and I bring beauty in the patterns that toys make by controlling where I stamp, I sign and I put the toys. I am trying to question the industrial evolution that we are in. Everything starts with ‘smart’ and how far is it going to take us?
