The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Patrick Lynch passed away from multiple blunt force injuries.
CBS News reported the finding on Thursday, November 5, after the office had released the cause and manner of passing for his two children a day earlier.
Officials ruled Patrick’s passing a sui*ide.
Meanwhile, the passings of James and Caroline were classified as homicides.

The three family members were found near the bottom of a five-story parking garage in the Pittsburgh suburb of Mt. Lebanon at around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3.
First responders attempted to save the children, but both passed away at the scene. The medical examiner’s office said James was pronounced lifeless at 4:35 p.m., followed by Caroline one minute later.
Authorities have not publicly explained every detail of what happened before the family fell from the garage.
The mother of the young kids remembered her husband as a “wonderful dad” despite his struggles

As the investigation continues, Anna Lynch shared a heartbreaking message about her family’s loss in a Facebook post that was later deleted.
The Daily Voice published a screenshot of the post.
Anna said Patrick had lost his job in August 2026 and began struggling with depression soon afterward. She also said she encouraged him to seek professional help.
In the post, she wrote, "My husband made the irreversible decision to k*ll our two children and himself this evening."
She then described how his mental health had changed after losing his job.

"He was laid off in August and shortly after became depressed," she wrote.
Anna also revealed that Patrick had agreed to see a therapist and had an appointment scheduled for November 4, just one day after the tragedy.
"I suggested he to go to a therapist [sic], which he agreed to go to and had an appointment booked for 11/4. One day too late," she wrote.
The grieving mother also asked people not to forget the man she had known before the tragedy. She described him as "a wonderful dad.”
"I never thought this was how our story would end," she wrote.
Along with discussing Patrick’s struggles, Anna also shared a heartbreaking tribute to her kids

Anna mentioned James’s passion for skiing and Caroline’s love of Skittles and slime. She also described the siblings as “best friends forever,” as reported by Bored Panda.
Her farewell to them read, "Rest in peace, my angels."
She then shared a message urging people to check on those they love.
The family was part of the Mt. Lebanon community, where the d*aths have deeply affected residents.

Two elementary schools in the Mt. Lebanon School District, Markham Elementary and Washington Elementary, closed on Wednesday to give staff time to grieve and access professional counseling.
The district also made counselors available to help students and employees cope with the tragedy.
Caroline attended Honey Bee Haven, a local daycare. The center also shared a statement remembering the six-year-old and the impact she had on the people around her.

"Caroline was an important part of our community, and her presence touched our teachers, classmates, and all who knew her. We will honor her by continuing to live out these values every day," the statement read.
It also praised Anna's work supporting children and families, adding, "Anna has dedicated so much of her life to advocating for children and ensuring they have safe, supportive environments in which to thrive."
A GoFundMe fundraiser was created to help Anna cover the costs of burying her husband and two children. By Friday afternoon, it had raised more than $210,000.
“A merciless and evil act, beyond comprehension,” wrote one netizen
