I put this together because in this crazy, stressful time of Coronavirus and social distancing, I felt we could all use some fun-and showtunes.
As a professional performing artist and comedian, I'm also missing working and performing like crazy. So why not create a performance!
I posted on facebook to do a "porch musical" in our West End neighborhood group and was so jazzed by how many people were excited and into it.
I had put together an information sheet on google docs so people knew what/when/and how to do things. Some people ventured into the streets in front of my house to join in a big sing a long. Some sent from their own porches. And then I edited together a video.
It was pretty epic.
I chose this song "One Day More" in particular because the lyrics seemed to fit with the concept of longing and trying to "live when we are parted" and it also sings the idea of a unifying a revolution or battle against something. Plus I love the idea of just continuing to think that we can do face this hard time just going one day more at a time.
I loved that people in this "West End Original Cast" even put on costumes and really gave a lot into their performances. The neighborhood is now messaging me wanting to do more and do another sing along next weekend!
We can all use some art and laughs!
