In 2008, I adopted my dog Bogart from NY Pet Rescue (www.ny-petrescue.org). He was one among three brothers in the same litter. Shortly after I adopted him, one of his brothers' new family reached out to me to set up a play date. Sadly, timing never worked out and we soon lost touch.
Ten years passed, and I found myself thinking about Bogart's brothers more and more because of an upcoming international move we will be making. I knew that he would probably never have the chance to meet his brother, so I took a chance and e-mailed the old contact info that I had on file to see if they were still in the area. To my surprise, they were, and even better, they were equally as excited to set up a reunion.
We set a date and Bogart and his brother Petey reunited at a beautiful park, and it was the sweetest meeting! We traded stories about their personalities, quirks, and tendencies over the years, and most of all, shared a special kinship that our dogs brought to us.
We both agreed that adopting these dogs was the best decision we have made and I hope that more people adopt these lovely animals who bring so much love and joy to your life!
