What do you do when your art keeps you up nights and tells you what to do? You keep painting what it wants to say, stop fighting it and listen. That's what I did, and it told me to finish school even though it was just for me, it said "time to leave city living" even tho' I really didn't want to, AND I did - now I live on a mountain top farm, with a HUSBAND! 2 dogs! 3 cats! and a bunch of coyotes, bats, and other crazy critters roaming around me. Chase said "gotta get healthy" and now I walk my dogs, harvest veggies and fruit, climb and occasional tree, swim in dirt swimming pools (ponds) and learning to make books from what my art tells me to do. Capture the Moon is my first (and my art tells me there will be more) book, and my main character, the one who tells me what to do, is named Chase. Chase loses its way in life, and finds it through listening within, because a wise bird told him to. It took me just over 8 years to make this book because it began as many paintings, and it went into 144 pages when I started writing it. Most of my friends were in a stupor after I got to page 54, so for several years, in between school and helping on the farm, I edited it and worked on the story, so that now it is 32 pages all full color. I have some nice words said about it. Some said it was Buddha (Siddhartha's) story. Wow! I also have a video of me looking to raise money to print it for a variety of reasons. Mostly because I love kids and want them to know the value of listening within, so that they have some skills to lean on when the going is/gets tough. That's my story. The video is kind of silly because I did it myself, and don't have a good editing program, I also did over 25 takes and by the end my lip gloss was all over my face, and my braces made talking really uncomfortable.
