We run a small petting farm in the UK (actually not far from Robin Hood territory). There's a fenced off area where wild deer roam and people have been over-friendly in the past thinking that all deer are Disney characters. But Disney characters don't kick or bite.
So we wanted a simple shirt slogan that the groundsman could wear, and that we could put on signs along the fence. Since it was my job to keep the boys out of mischief that day I thought I'd be a good dad and let them get it done. It would give them a sense of participation. Also they have use of the family computer, they aren't illiterate, and they have my stock art at their disposal. What could possibly go wrong?
Their brief was simple. Make a slogan that tells the general public that touching the wildlife is not allowed. In my opinion they rocked it (don't tell my better half).
Anyway, we agreed to print one each for them for their efforts and re-evaluate the slogan during the next family meal. My wife's social media feed had other ideas, and pretty soon over 50 people also wanted to wear the shirt.
Fast forward to this week, and our small print run for (extended) family and friends suddenly turned international when Amazon started stocking the design on our behalf, and people all over the world started sending us messages about the shirt.
It's been a strange couple of weeks. All I can say is never doubt your kids ability to out-class you, and certainly at our house now "This is a big NO NO around here."
