Dr. Jitmoud’s late son, Salahuddin Jitmoud, 22 years old, was a pizza delivery driver. During the last delivery of his shift on that fateful night, he was robbed and murdered.
In the court proceedings, Dr. Jitmoud advised Mr. Relford, "The door of opportunity for God to forgive is open… So, reach out to Him. You have a new chapter of good life coming." Relford was seen wiping his eyes with the collar of his orange jail uniform after listening to Dr. Jitmoud’s speech, “I’m angry at the devil who misguided you to do such a crime.”
Relford finally responded, "I can’t imagine the hurt, the pain. There’s nothing I can do. I’m sorry about what happened that day. I can’t do nothing to give that back to you."
Dr.Jitmoud said, "Forgiveness is the greatest gift in Islam."
