We are in Yuanyang, Yunnan Province. Established in China in 1979, the one-child policy imposed strict birth controls. Intended to avoid overcrowding, it resulted in the criminalization of parents having more than one child, but also in forced abortions and sterilizations. Since 2015, the rules have changed and each couple can now have up to two children.

I'm walking down the streets of Pushkar. It’s 7 am, one of my favorite times of the day, wherever I am, to watch life regain its rights after the quiet of the night. I stop for a while in front of a magnificent house. A mother goes out with her child. A moment of total magic and mystery.

We are in Mea Shearim, a district in the north of Jerusalem where live only ultra-Orthodox Jews (or "Haredim") live. They settled there to lead a life of strict religious practice.
