Mother of two, writes book to gently introduce breastfeeding to children...
My name is Samantha, mom of two and it wasn't long into my breastfeeding journey after my first child that I realized there was a very big gap regarding breastfeeding education.
It took the concept a while to develop, but after having my second child, during a 3 or 4 am sleepless moment, I had the proverbial "light bulb" go off that we need more resources for children, not adults, if we want to help normalize breastfeeding.
Since that moment almost three years ago I have been working to cultivate the idea, write a manuscript for the book "Emily's Great Adventure" and gather resources and knowledge with the most helpful people I have met through a mutual authors group.
As I am writing this post, I am gearing up to launch a Kickstarter for this first book to get the funding to help make it a reality. Becoming a self published author is an extreme learning curve in so many ways. You could say that being a new parent is comparable.
Too many families have to deal with low confidence, lots of misinformation and overall obstacles relating to breastfeeding their child(ren) whether that includes in your home or in public areas. This book is to help create resources for children to learn in a gentle parenting approach, to offer years of play based practice and confidence building long before they may interact with a breastfeeding family or start a family of their own.
