The world we live in today has been going through devastations and natural calamities. Earthquakes being one of the major tragedy, actually took a toll. Countries, cities and areas near mountain were declared the probability of hitting it anytime around any day of the year. Because of this warning, many countries started taking preventive measures. 1. Tibet – 8.6 magnitude:
Assam state in India was indirectly hit by earthquake which was recorded as 8.6 magnitude. More than seven small villages were completely destroyed and became history within few minutes and less than an hour. Unfortunately, more than one thousand, five hundred and twenty six individuals were dead and many gone missing. Not only that, the earthquake was actually followed by tremendous amount of flooding. Due to aftershocks and tremors preceding earthquake, a natural dam also burst which released seven meter of walls of water against the villages. In addition to it, there were continuous explosive sounds which apparently took place somewhere in the air.
2. Chile – 8.8 magnitude:
This earthquake took lives of five hundred and twenty one people with more than fifteen thousand injured individuals. Can you imagine there was a large number, eight hundred thousand people to be exact, who became homeless and Chile was completely destroyed.
3. Areca – 9 magnitude:
Pacific basin created tsunami in Hawaii which destroyed the entire city – Arequipa. More than twenty five thousand people were killed in the earth quake.
4. Chile – magnitude 9.5:
In the year 1960, Chile underwent earthquake of 9.5 magnitude which took lives of many. According the estimated record, four thousand, four hundred and eighty five people were killed and more than two million became homeless. There is a port named Puerto Saavedra which was destroyed too and it cost $550 million worth loss.
