Illustrator and cartoonist Hannah Hillam have been making comics for over 11 years now, slowly but surely over time the artist has gained over 787k followers on Instagram. Hannah began posting cartoons on her Instagram in 2014, but then did a daily comic in 2016 and that was probably the reason why she quickly started gaining popularity and then rapidly took off with her hilarious and relatable content.
Most of her cartoons could be described as a slice of life, and as of now, one of her main fortes is creating funny and surrealistic comics that surround cats and their behavior. Hillam has practically made it her mission to bring a smile to her readers' faces with her quirky comics, and the overwhelming support she has received over the years has only made her strive further.
In a recent interview with Forbes, Hillam discussed what inspires her, "Everyday life, living with mental illness, observing the world around me, my mood. I tend to be cynical, and getting my cynicism out on paper helps me put it in perspective. Or I’ll be walking and see a few birds screaming at each other outside and wonder what they’d say, and then go draw it."
"I also like to imagine alternate realities, like a world where cats keep humans as pets. Or what would food do if it lived like humans? Had a day job or had families. Would food eat itself if it were hungry? We’re technically edible but we don’t practice auto-cannibalism so maybe food wouldn’t either. But maybe it would? I like drawing stuff like that."
