When asked about the process of choosing models, Danielle told us: “Originally I did a model call in local chicken owner Facebook groups I am in, and men came forward, along with their partners volunteering them. It wasn't easy because most men seem to be very turned off to the idea of posing for this fun calendar! The men who are in it have very high self-confidence and a sense of humor.
After I found some initial models, I posted a sneak peek and a local news station wanted to feature it. Once that was featured, I had men across the country and the world who heard about it and wanted to be a part of it. At that point, I began to choose Chicken Daddies who had more of an interesting background and I traveled across the United States many times over the summer to photograph them. We have one that owns Chickenbutt Donuts in South Carolina. Another one is a founder of the New York Says Thank You Foundation and we did the photoshoot in the middle of Times Square, NY. Yet another is a TikTok celebrity in Texas. And we traveled to meet up with another Chicken Dad in California who went viral after his wife posted his Target Dress Challenge. Now I accept applications on my website.”
“My target audience was originally people who own and have a love for chickens—it's apparently quite a niche!” Danielle shared. “However, that has expanded to people who homestead and own farms. And further expanded to people who enjoy cottagecore or unique artwork. Now we are seeing them sell simply to people who enjoy something to give them a smile every day or as white elephant gifts. We have learned all kinds of people enjoy Chicken Daddies even if they don't own chickens!”
Danielle says that this has been a really fulfilling adventure for her: “I am so pleased that people love the concept and it gives them great joy to see this playful and wholesome content. I have sold thousands of these calendars (and counting) across the entire world. Every model in these calendars are people you would want to be best friends with. They are wonderful people with so much confidence in themselves and a great sense of humor. I am so honored and ecstatic to have long lasting connections with all of them. I will continue to make new, fun, and fresh Chicken Daddies themes every year to keep people across the world smiling.”
