Every winter, stores start selling decorations and other creative projects to get families excited for Christmas. As a child I would wish I could get one of those kits, however, we didn't celebrate Christmas so I never got to decorate one.
Ramadan and Eid would come and go without much excitement in our household.
Now as my own preschooler grows up, his cousins decorate Gingerbread houses for Christmas and decorate their trees and string lights and my son asked me why we weren't Christian.
He currently attends a predominately Muslim school in Orange County California, and although he is learning to embrace his identity as a Muslim, he doesn't see the same excitement for Ramadan that he saw just this past Christmas celebrating with his cousins.
This year I am making a choice to make Ramadan and Eid special. I want him and all other Muslim kids to get excited for Ramadan and Eid.
After years of looking for a proper Ramadan cookie decorating box and not finding one, I finally created one. After months of trial and error, I created my first kits and they are now available on Etsy for California residents only!
